Green Champions

Newcastle Hospitals was the first healthcare organisation in the world to declare a climate emergency. We have a Climate Emergency Strategy and report annually on our performance. To empower staff to join us on the journey to embedding sustainability at Newcastle Hospitals, we have developed an extensive network of Green Champions across all levels of the Trust.

If you would like more information please view our intranet pages or to sign up as a Green Champion please email [email protected]. There is no time commitment, we simply ask that you tell your colleagues you have signed up and share our monthly updates.

All Newcastle Hospitals staff can also join the Shine Rewards program via a browser or the app to be in with a chance of earning points and rewards for your positive actions. You can win up to £20 a month in vouchers for things like recycling, switching off equipment, or spending time outside. This is open to anyone who works at the Trust, you do not have to be a Green Champion to sign up, although it will win you points!
