Health and Wellbeing Support

There are several resources available to staff within the trust to help support health and wellbeing.

  • Help for Heroes provides support for wounded, injured and sick serving personnel and veterans, and their families. They provide physical, psychological, financial and welfare support.
  • OpCourage support is local mental health support provided by CNTW.
  • Able futures can provide up to 9 months support for those in work who are struggling with mental wellbeing.
  • NHS employee suicide: a postvention tool kit to help manage the impact and provide support.
  • NHS England’s national health and wellbeing programme was set up prior to the pandemic in 2019 to specifically support the wellbeing of our NHS people.
  • Andy's Man Club are a men’s suicide prevention charity, offering free-to-attend peer-to-peer support groups across the United Kingdom and online.
  • Newcastle United Foundation’s Be a Game Changer encourages people in our city to talk openly about mental health and to provide tips on how to improve your physical and mental wellbeing.

Veterans Support - Combat Stress

Combat Stress provides self-help mental health advice on their website. They offer mental health helplines 24 hours a day for confidential advice and support. You can call the Veterans and their families helpline on 0800 138 1619, serving personnel and their families helpline on 0800 323 4444 or you can text 07537 173683 or email [email protected]. Physical Activity

Increasing your activity levels can reduce your risk of major illnesses, such as heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes and cancer by up to 50% and lower your risk of early death by up to 30% (NHS, 2018). Physical activity has also been shown to improve mental health! Why not see what is going on across the Trust, and the city, to help motivate you to take that first step to increase your physical activity levels!
